2nd Tutorial: The meaning of "Trader"

**Before going outside, talk to the Level Supporter first and enroll.

Level Supporter: Hello. Welcome to Uncharted Waters Online. I'm your Level Up Supporter, and I'll be with you. You can receive items from the Level Up Supporter in each capital city and navigation school whenever your level goes by 5: Level 5, level 10, level 15, etc...up to level 80. Okay, (your name here). You're registered to the Level Up Support Event list. We have many gifts ready for you, so go gain exp and come back.

After that, go outside to meet with the Instructor.

Instructor Alan: Ah, so you're specialising in Trade. Becoming a master Trader requires skills to find profit and build fortune. First, let's go to the market. You can learn from the Traders there.

**now click on your map to go to the Market place.

Market Keeper: Hi, Instructor. How can i help you?

Instructor Alan: This student is studying trade. I thought we'd come here to cover the basics. Would you mind helping?

Market Keeper: Sure, that's easy. I'm glad to have another Trader here.

Instructor Alan: Thank you. I owe you.

Traveling Merchant: Hello, sir!

Market Keeper: Oh, I haven't seen you in a while.

Traveling Merchant: I've been doing some travelling here and there, and I've purchased a few things. Care to take a look? Oh! I'm sorry, were you busy? I'll come back later.

Instructor Alan: No, this could be a good lesson. By all means, continue.

Traveling Merchant: R-Really? All right, thank you. What are the Market Rates like today?

Market Keeper: Hmm.. About like this.

Traveling Merchant: Oh, I see, I see.

Instructor Alan: He looks pleased. Let me ask you a question. Why do you think he's looking at the Market Rates?

*How will you respond?
-to better buy and sell trade goods
-just because he's curious
-to make life easier
(my answer: to better buy and sell trade goods)

Instructor Alan: Correct. By looking at the Market Rates, you can see the current values of various trade goods. The fundamental of trading are: Buy low and sell high. Market Rates vary by location and time. Check them often!

Note:
-market keeper
once you have learned the Finance Skill, you can examine the Market Rates of trade goods, and compare their current prices with standard prices.

Instructor Alan: Shall we watch him in action? Look, he's already started trading.

Traveling Merchant: Take a good look at this one. You don't see a shine and colour like this every day. I went to a lot of trouble to find it. Would you like to hear how I did?

Market Keeper: Even so , I can only pay this much....

Travelling Merchant: Oh, and I wanted to say that you carry a fine selection of trade goods in your shop, sir. And I bet it would be a good place for me to buy this. How about it, I'll buy this from your store. Then could you give me a little more for mine? It was quite hard to come by.

Market Keeper: I guess I could think about it.

Traveling Merchant: Look, there's a novice Trader watching. Couldn't you show him what a little generosity looks like?

Market Keeper: You're good, aren't you. Fine, how about this price?

Traveling Merchant: That's more like it! All right, it's a deal.

Market Keeper: Wasn't that a good demonstration, Instructor? He has real talent.

Instructor Alan: Yes, it seems he does. If you could learn to negotiate like that, you'd be a better Trader. But it will take a lot of practice.

Traveling Merchant: Right, I've done a lot to make it this far.

Note:
-haggle
once you have learned the Finance Skill, you can use Vigour to raise or lower prices when you trade.
-if you succeed, you will trade at a more favourable price. If you fail, all of your prices will reset to normal, and it will be more difficult to haggle in that town for a while.

Instructor Alan: Do you have any question?

*What do you say?
-concerning market rates
-about haggling
-no question

Instructor Alan: Let's take a break before continuing on to the Escape Skill.

Traveling Merchant: Oh, would you like to know about escaping? I'm quite good at it, and I wouldn't mind helping a bit.

Instructor Alan: Very well. We'll continue together. Thank you.

Traveling Merchant: I'll do my best!

Instructor Alan: Next, I will explain the Escape Skill, which allows you to escape when attacked at sea.

Traveling Merchant: But that doesn't mean you'll be able to escape immediately. Life isn't that easy.

Instructor Alan: Right. If you use your Escape Skill in a sea battle, your ship will increase speed. If you can use that speed to reach the edge of the battlefield, you'll be able to escape. But you will be unable to attack whilst escaping. And if your opponent hits you with an attack, you'll receive heavy damage.

Traveling Merchant: Watching your opponent to find an opeing for escape is crucial.

Instructor Alan: And be warned, you cannot use this skill when you have initiated the battle. It seems like you're well used to escaping, though.

Traveling Merchant: I have friends who choose to fight, but I run! If I tried to stand against pirates and lost my precious cargo, what would I do then? Did you ever hear the saying, "He who runs away will live to fight another day"? Well, for me it's more like, "He who runs away will live to run away another day!" That's the code I live by, and it brought me this far.

Note:
-However, while the skill is active, you will be able to attack, and incoming attacks will inflict greater damage upon you. Escape Skill cannot be used in battles you have initiated.

Instructor Alan: Do you understand how the Escape Skill works? If you'd like, I could go over it again.

*How will you respond?
-no questions
-i don't understand

Instructor Alan: Good. Let's move on to the Storage Skill. Since we've come this far, I'd like to stick through until the end. I'll explain the Storage Skill. How should I put it...It's something like a guardian for the Novice Trader.

Traveling Merchant: Well said, Instructor.

Instructor Alan: I hope you don't plan on charging for the compliment. When I say the Storage Skill is like a guardian, I'm speaking figuratively. But it does have real effects. If you have the Storage skill, losses from shipwrecks or defeat in melee battle will be lessened. Also, you will be able to preserve fish for your food stores. For that, you'll need a recipe book...

Traveling Merchant: Instructor, don't you think that's a little much to cover so quickly?

Instructor Alan: Oh, sorry. I was getting ahead of myself. For now it should be enough just to think of it as a guardian for Traders.

Traveling Merchant: Everyone starts out not knowing anything. Even I was the same way. You'll get the hang of it. And we're lucky to live in times with teachers like the Instructor here. Right, sir?

Market Keeper: Right. I've finally remembered who you are. You used to live in this town, didn't you? Back then you didn;t have a clue, but look at you now.

Traveling Merchant:  I remember. That was a long time ago.

Market Keeper: I hope you will become a fine Trader yourself, with the help of the Instructor.

Instructor Alan: I hope so too. Nothing would please me more than this to be the start of your life as a Trader.

Note:
-storage
if you have the Storage skill, losses from shipwrecks or defeat in melee battle will be lessened. Also, you can use a recipe book to preserve fish and other produce for you food stores.

Instructor Alan: Do you understand how the Storage skill works? If you'd like, I could go over it again.

**How will you respond?
-no questions
-i don't understand

Instructor Alan: That should cover the basics of trading. Let's return to the academy.

**Then talk to the Merchant Course Instructor to get the reward.

You will receive the following for this quest:
-3000 Ducat
-60 Trade experience
-10 Trade Fame
